Is it a Phase or A Lifestyle?

Gaming is viewed as one of the new frontiers for blockchain and cryptocurrency assets. Many platforms such as Decentraland, Sandbox, and Gala Games have exploded over the last 4 months — with their respective cryptocurrency assets breaking all time highs. While this is clearly indicative of current interest, one can only wonder how much longer these platforms will remain relevant and what the unique value each of these brings to the table.

Decentraland

Decentraland (MANA) is a virtual world where players can run around freely, purchase virtual land, build mini-games, and engage in social activities with friends and other players. Decentraland is the most popular of all blockchain enabled gaming platforms at the moment. I have personally made an account and tried it out to see what it’s about and as of now I do not see the hype. Putting aside my issues with graphics, the virtual world failed to have much of an impression on me.

A lot of what can be done in Decentraland can also be done in the SIMS, which is what Decentraland seems to take a lot of influence from. You start off in a plaza where you learn the basics of the game world and are then given free leave to roam wherever you want.
