What is CRO?

CRO (Crypto.Com Coin) is a cryptocurrency asset that operates on the Crypto.Com Blockchain. The company that oversees the development of the blockchain and the asset is based in Singapore. Crypto.Com is dedicated to building a platform that allows interactivity with other cryptocurrency blockchains and ecosystems, which makes it both flexible and provides real-world utility.

What type of technology does CDC use?

CRO is a proof-of-stake coin which operates on its own chain. A proof-of-stake architecture allows other nodes (computers) to complete signatures for transactions on the network based on the amount of coins a miner holds. You can think of this as a bounty system, the first node that completes the computation is allowed to place a signature on the block and is rewarded for contributing to the network. Unlike proof-of-work (Bitcoin and Ethereum), which requires a large amount of computational power and energy to complete signatures, proof-of-stake is low energy consumption and is far more scalable than a proof-of-work model. The benefit of this is things like lower fees for actions taken on the network (sending, receiving, swapping to other tokens, higher overall staking rewards, and lower energy consumption which makes Crypto.Com Coin environmentally friendly.

Where can you use CRO?

CRO can be used in a variety of stores, marketplaces, and for point of sale transactions already using the CDC app. Magazines such as National Geographic, hard wallet vendors like Ledger, companies like Starbucks, AMC theaters, and Target are all accepting payment using CRO coins (some of the options are limited to gift cards only).

If you are a business, you have a lot of support in terms of using CDC to take crypto payments. The CDC Pay function allows users to instantly send CRO to other app users. CDC also has a soft wallet app (that can be downloaded separately), and a number of other coins can be held in the app and transferred to another individual.

In summation, there’s no limit to where you can use CDC and the possibilities are growing.
